Well it seems I’ve had a few glitches, but hopefully they are fixed!

I’ve mentioned in the past that backstitching really isn’t my favorite part of cross stitching. It’s still true and I had a hard time starting on this project. I kept finding other projects, (knitting, sewing , weaving, etc) to do. I finally told myself I have to finish this project before I start a new one, so just do it. This is the reason I now backstitch as I go. 🤣

Here is were I was last update…….

And now……

I was able to finish the panel with the cabin and deer…..

Now that I’ve started I’m ready to keep going and finish. Hopefully next update.

Please check out what the others in the SAL are doing and I’ll see you in 3 weeks.

  1. Wow you are the last on my list Linda and I have actually got to you the day after SAL Sunday. I too hate back stitching but it can make such a difference to a project. That first little scene has sprung to life not its been outlined. Definitely easier if you can do the b/s as you go.

    1. Your right it does complete and bring the whole thing together. I agree it is easier to do backstitching as you go. I think this piece has been in my stash for a while, since before I started doing it as I went along.

    1. Thank you. Seeing it pop is the reason I’m getting into finishing this piece, I do like it better to backstitch as I go then to wait until the end.

  2. This should be a quick finish ! I have to admit, I do like backstitch because for alot of pieces it really helps bring the detail out, but I can understand why some people wouldn’t – I just hope this won’t discourage you from making the bistro piece !

    1. I do like the way a piece looks with the backstitching. I think it really makes the piece. I have just learned to do it as I go and not wait to the end to finish it. I think I did this piece before I learned that. It isn’t discouraging me from the bistro piece, that is my reward for finishing! 😀

  3. I love how backstitching brings a piece into focus — it’s like putting my glasses on, everything goes from a little fuzzy to nice and crisp. But I don’t do the backstitches until I’ve finished the rest of the stitching and I get bored. I suppose I should learn to backstitch in chunks rather than have to go back and do it all!
